Betty Ferdig was born August 19, 1931 in Sturgis.  She was the daughter of Simon and Katie (Mettler) Ferdig.  At a young age, Betty moved with her family to Oregon where her father worked in the shipyards and her mother worked at a meat packing plant.  In 1949, Betty was united in marriage to Dale Browning in Belvidere, SD.  To this union, six children were born: Linda, Judy, Vicky, Mark, Dale Jr., and Rocky.  Following their marriage, Betty and Dale lived in several towns in North Dakota and South Dakota.  In the early 1960, the family settled in Belle Fourche.  They later divorced.

Betty worked several years at the Don Pratt Manor.  For 27 years she was a Certified Nurses Aid at the Belle Fourche Nursing Home.  In the early 1990’s Betty retired.  On December 17, 2010, Betty was united in marriage to Stan Bevier.  They were married at City Hall in Belle Fourche.  Following their marriage, they lived in Colony WY and in June of 2020 they moved into Belle Fourche.

Betty will be remembered for how hard she worked and how she liked to stay busy.  She was feisty and was never afraid to say what was on her mind.  She loved her dogs very much.  Betty will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Betty is survived by her husband, Stan Bevier of Belle Fourche; son, Mark (Shawna) Browning of Belle Fourche; daughters, Linda (Tom) Prantner of Belle Fourche, Judy (Frank) DeFalco of Denver CO, Vicky (Mike) Houg of Sioux Falls; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; step-son, Rick (Mary Beth) Bevier of Belle Fourche; and step-daughter, Melinda Bevier of Hill City.
