About Us

OUR FAMILY SERVING YOURS

Funeral Home of the Northern Hills was established in 1991 with one purpose in mind ~ to provide western South Dakota with the best service and care available in funeral service. And a business that is owned by people you can trust.

WHAT MAKES US DIFFERENT?

1. INTEGRITY. SERVICE, CARING HEARTS, AND COMMITTMENT TO EXCELLENCE.

When under our care, you will experience professional service and sensitive care-giving at their best. We are committed to caring for our families with compassion. We don't simply "provide funerals"; we serve people in difficult times and provide care, hope, and service that will make a difference. Our service doesn't end at the funeral either. Each December our family conducts "Hope for the Holidays", a Service of Remembrance, for all the families we've served. It is a gift from our family to yours. We bring value to our service by providing gifts of care such as Tribute Candles and DVD Video Tributes, all at no charge

2. NEW, MODERN BUILDING THAT EXUDES WARMTH, PEACE AND COMFORT.

Our new building opened in 2007 and is designed to bring comfort and peace to a stressful time. Our large chapel is spacious and comfortably seats 150 people. Luncheons can be held in the family reception area. Everything is handicap accessible.

3. COMMITTMENT TO EDUCATION

Since 1995, Mark has been certified by the Academy of Professional Funeral Service Practice, a national volunteer educational program dedicated to keeping funeral directors educated and accountable to volunteer service in the communities they live. Mark enjoys public speaking as well. He looks for opportunites to speak on grief related topics or provide funeral home tours to school groups, church groups, and organizations.

4. COMMUNITY SERVICE

Whether it's various city and chamber of commerce functions, the Black Hills Roundup, Belle Fourche Baseball, or church and service organizations, you can count on us being active participants to help Belle Fourche grow and prosper. Being active in the community where we live and raise our family is an important priority to us. Mark is Past Chairman of the Black Hills Roundup (2012, 2013), Past President of the Belle Fourche Chamber of Commerce, a member of the Belle Fourche Lions Club, and serves on various committees including the SD State High School Rodeo Finals Committee. He also serves as a member of the Black Hills Roundup Board of Directors, and has served several years as the Black Hills Roundup Parade Chairman. Mark and Deb became owners of Funeral Home of the Northern Hills in 2005 and continue to operate the funeral home with the highest ethical and professional standards.
