Richard C. Brooks

Richard C. Brooks was born July 16, 1938 in El Paso, Texas.  He was the son of Jesse and Catherine (Clere) Brooks.  In 1991, Richard moved to Deadwood and in October of 2000 he met Becky Mattson.  They later married on January 16, 2001.  Following their marriage, they lived in Lead and in 2008 they moved to Belle Fourche, where they have lived since.

Richard worked for the City of Deadwood as a Trolly Driver.  He loved that job and he loved visiting with all his customers.  Richard had a great sense of humor, and he was always fun to be around.  In his younger years, he raced motorcycles in California.  That gave him a great love for motorcycles.  He also enjoyed downhill skiing.  There wasn’t a project he was scared to jump into.  He was fearless when it came to challenges, like various building projects he completed.  He loved Becky’s family and Richard will be greatly missed by his wife and friends.

Richard died at the age of 83 on Saturday, September, 18, 2021 at Monument Health Spearfish Hospital. He is survived by his wife, Becky Brooks of Belle Fourche.

His life will be celebrated next summer, on his birthday, July 16, 2022.  In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
