Ronnie Couch

Durand “Ronnie” Couch age 82 of Belle Fourche, died February 5, 2009 at the Belle Fourche Regional Senior Care Center in Belle Fourche. The funeral service will be held 10:30am Monday February 9th, 2009 at Funeral Home of the Northern Hills in Belle Fourche, with Rev. Tom Martin officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will be held at Black Hills National Cemetery, near Sturgis. Durand “Ronnie” Kathryn Martin was born June 20, 1926 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She was the daughter of Dell and Kathryn (Mangold) Martin. Ronnie grew up and attended school in Pennsylvania. While working as a secretary at a war office she met her future husband who was in the U.S. Navy. Ronnie was united in marriage to Gerald B. Couch on July 10, 1946 in Belle Fourche. Prior to making their home in Belle Fourche they lived in Pennsylvania and Washington for a period of time, and they also lived in Camp Crook for many years where they ranched and operated the Camp Crook General Store. Gerald died in 1991. Ronnie has been a resident of the Belle Fourche Regional Senior Care Center since 2001. Ronnie will be lovingly remembered as a wonderful mother, grandmother, and friend to all who knew her. She enjoyed crocheting, watching movies, attending yard sales, baking, being with family, and friends. Most of all she loved spending time with her grandchildren. Her beautiful smile, kindness, and her gift of bringing fairytales to life will be missed so much. Ronnie is survived by her sons, Marty (Alberta) Couch of New Salem IL, Kenny (Lynda) Couch of Moreno Valley, CA, Jim (Arleta) Couch of Belle Fourche, Joe (Christy) Couch of Spearfish; daughters, Jo (Terry) Hemmer of Casper, WY, Kayla (Steve) Vis of Beaver Creek, MN; 17 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; great grandchild, Tyge; brothers, Dell and Pierce; and dear friend, Colleen Larvie.
